Bonjour RJ! Our line of LeDoux's settled in Vincent Settlement in Calcasieu Parish and when I was younger, we moved into "yankee" country to Vernon Parish. It was culture shock for me to move away from Vincent Settlement/Hackberry. We never met another LeDoux family in that area and no one remembered how or when we arrived in Calcasieu Parish. Fortunately, a cousin directed me to his copy of the LeDoux book and we realized that we had cousins all over the place. While I was doing some work through the state of Louisiana, I would occasionally read articles about LeDoux individuals and I was surprised to find some black LeDoux families. I thought there must be a lot of history to the LeDoux name to have such a large and varied lineage. Our immediate family still lives in the Protestant north Louisiana area. We are homeschooling our 3 children and we are attempting to reintroduce the French language into the family again. Recently, I visited with Dre LeDoux via email. I think Dre was raised in the Mossville area of Calcasieu Parish. Are yall related? I have lost his email address. Also what prompted my recent inquiry into the black/Creole lines of LeDoux families was some comments by my grandmother. She was recalling a black family in Sulphur that ran a restaurant many years ago. I thought she said this restaurant was ran by a black LeDoux family and that we were related. Unfortunately, only the older generations remembered how. Her mind was weak and she passed before I could get the story. Later an aunt disputed the story of my grandmother and informed me the family that ran the restaurant was Lyons, to whom we are also related. Send me your email please and I will blast you a few photos if you are interested. Thanks for your reply. Sincerely, Brian LeDoux Notify Administrator about this message?
