Dear Brian,
Thank you for your kind inviation. I expect your cooking is somewhat different than mine. All my children love Cajun food. Even my Alabama-born daughter-in-law, Susan, has learned to make gumbo and she makes her own roux.
I plan to be in Ville Platte the first week in March. I will be staying with my brother, Pete. My friend Flo, from Ville Platte, is here visiting her daughter in Shelby Co. We will drive home together.
Pete works at Cabot, but has made arrangements to take vacation days during my visit. We plan to go "visiting". We have literally dozens and dozens of cousins! Pete says we will "gas up the truck and take off". I don't know exactly what he has planned. His truck is new and rides good, but I love my van with the lumbar support for my poor, aching back.
I am really looking forward to my visit with Pete. He lives in, and now owns, our parents' house. Who says you can't go home again!
On this trip, I will be looking for old family pictures. Mama was the youngest of 15 children; Daddy was the oldest of 8. All of Mama's siblings are deceased. Daddy's only surviving sibling, Aunt Eula, recently entered the Nursing Home. Daddy has one Great Aunt, Thelma, in the same Nursing Home. I hope to visit one of Thelma's daughters. I know they have great family pictures.
If time permits, I will call you. Pete is presently on the Internet, but told me he is having trouble with his computer and he may cancel the internet, for a while.
