Any connection with the St. Leger family of Ulcombe in Kent, holders of Ulcombe from 1066 when that estate was awarded by William the Conqueror to a Sir Robert de Sancto Leodegarrio. Holdings continued in hands of a Sir Warham St. Leger, ob. 1631. He may have lost Ulcombe estates at same time he lost Kent Castle to pay debts as partner in Raleigh's venture to find the gold of El Dorado.
