I desperately need your help!... This will be a fairly long post, but I am hoping someone can connect to this family and help me fill in the holes!!!!! On my great-grandmother's marriage certificate, it states her name as Marie-Jeanne Lacombe dit Lafleur, however since I have not seen any dit names for Lafleur as being Lacombe, I am assuming that it was an English translation of the French Lecompte (as phonetically, they do sound similar). Marie-Jeanne married my g-grandfather (Louis-Xavier Deforges) in Bourget, Ontario, Feb 12, 1892. I am having extreme difficulties in locating her parents, and subsequently, their parents. The names (family knowledge as well as also stated on Marie-Jeanne's marriage certificate) are Johny Lafleur and Eliza Bissonnette. Marie-Jeanne, their daughter, was known to our family simply as Anna Lafleur. The following are POSSIBLY OTHER children of Johny and Eliza: in St-Bernard, Fournier, Prescott, Ontario: LECOMPTE, Jean Henri (John & Elisabeth Bissonnette) born: 1873-05-10 bpt: 1873-05-27 Eglise (church) St-Bernard, Fournier, Presscott, Ontario Father: Jhon LeComte (not a typo on my part, that's what the priest wrote..) Mother: Elizabeth Bissonet godparents: Joseph Picard & Rosalie Perier LECOMPTE, Rosalie Délime (John & Elisabeth Bissonnette) born: 1872-04-11 bpt: 1873-05-27 Eglise (church) St-Bernard, Fournier, Presscott, Ontario Father: Jhon LeComte Mother: Elizabeth Bissonet godparents: Joseph Picard & Rosalie Perier As well, the Mary Ann stated as below, could more than likely be another of their children: Prescott & Russell 1895 #010219-95 (Prescott Co): John BARBEAU, 30, farmer, Clarence, same, s/o Louis BARBEAU & Elizabeth FRENCH, married Mary Ann LAFLEUR, 25, Riceville, South Plantagenet, d/o John LAFLEUR & Eliza BISSONNETTE, witn: William & V. STOREY of Plantagenet, 25 Nov 1895 at Plantagenet I have not been able to find John and Elize in the censuses, regardless of the fact that they had at least 3 children baptized in Ontario. (I believe my g-grandmother...Marie-Jeanne...aka Anna...was born in or around Clarence Creek Mar 14, 1878). In addition: A friend may have found a possible sister for Eliza Bissonnette. We believe that her sister is Lucie Bissonnette, who may have married ANOTHER John Lafleur....(this John Lafleur could very well be related to the John Lafleur I am searching for). It does not look like this couple is the same couple, but a different couple. There is a death record for a child of Lucie and John, (named Elisa), and a witness who signed was ELIZA Bissonnette (Therefore...we believe these two couples are related) The following are children of Lucie and John (who I believe are related to Eliza and John) in St-Bernard, Fournier, Prescott, Ontario: LAFLEUR, Joseph (Johny & Lucie Bissonnette) b & bpt: 1868-11-21 1868-12-20 LAFLEUR, Marguerite (Johny & Lucie Bissonnette) b & bpt: 1870-08-14 1870-12-24 LAFLEUR, Anna (Johny & Lucie Bissonnette) b & bpt: 1875-03-04 1875-05-02 LAFLEUR, Mary Ann (Johny & Lucie Bissonnette) b & bpt: 1877-01-28 1877-04-08 LAFLEUR, Alexandre (Johny & Lucie Bisson) b & bpt: 1879-01-21 1880-03-21 I believe this family may have been nomadic, and possibly followed the river? or lived very far away from a parish. (due to the fact that two of their children were baptized on the same day...and one was born. almost a year earlier)... Or...perhaps, they never married in Ontario...or maybe not even Canada? Any connections and help in this matter would be extremely appreciated!!!!! Thank you, Denise DeForge Notify Administrator about this message?
