Hi Debbie,
I just happened on your message after googling my name and I think I might have some information for you. In 1880, at age 18, my great-grandfather Eugene Lecomte moved with his parents and sibblings from Sainte-Hénédine, Québec first to Biddeford, before being married in Westbrook and settling in Lewiston. Eugene had an uncle named Pierre who married Caroline Beaudoin on June 6, 1884 in Sainte-Hénédine, Québec (near Sainte-Marie-de-Beauce).
They had five children that I know of:
Pierre:
Born Feb 23 1855 in Ste-Hénédine;
Married to Aurélie Lévesque in Biddeford on September 26, 1887;
Daughter Rose-Alma;
He died in 1928.
Augustin:
Married to Octavie Lafrenière in Westbrook on October 28, 1879.
Caroline-Élmire:
Born in Ste-Hénédine on November 27, 1857.
Marie-Aurélie:
Born in Ste-Hénédine April 4, 1860.
Léa:
Born in 1866;
Died in US.
Going back further, Pierre (Augustin's father) was the son of Jean-Baptiste Lecompte and Thérèse Chamberland married February 7 1820 in Saint-Pierre-du-Sud, (Québec) near Montmagny.
He was the son of Jean-Baptiste Lecompte, married in 1796 to Marguerite Samson in St-Pierre-du-Sud. He was also the son of (again) Jean-Baptiste LeConte from St-Pierre-Langers, Normandy, France (between Granville and Avranches). He was a cod fisherman and sailor who probably crossed the Atlantic yearly for about twenty years before marrying in Québec at age 35 in the year 1770 to Marquerite Talbot.
I have tons of info on the LeCompte Family (Lecompte, Lecomte, Leconte, LeComte and LeConte... it's all the same family if they are from Maine)
