Dear Michael,
I'm sorry to say that I haven't any information in my LeCompte file on James Wilbur L. or his wife Alice Mae, but have you asked your Aunt Lucille Silvers what names are on her birth certificate?
If you are in Baltimore area, by all means go to the Pratt Library Main Branch on Cathedral St. They have very complete newspaper archives on microfilm; look for an obituary on LeCompte in 1928, since your aunt who died that year was a child, and look in 1940 for the report on the accident and the subsequent obituary on your grandmother. The obits may give parents' names, maiden names, the name of the funeral home (which sometimes still have records), and it will name a cemetery, which will have names, dates and names of owners of the plot on the deed. The newspaper search is a bit tedious, but you should be able to scan both years in one day.
Good luck!
Dick
