hello Dean,
i've been looking into the mysterious Laclair-side on my mothers side only recently.
i discoved a Joseph Laclair serving in the civil war who came from Hogansburg, franklin co, NY.
his sister Lovina Laclair was married to Peter-Herman Villeneuve in Hogansburg.
her father was Francois-Xavier Laclair, master-carpenter at hogansburg , ny.he was married to Felicite (Besio).
no parents are found of either Francois-Xavier Laclair or Felicite (Besio),
Besio could very well be Bisaillon, or Braseau family name.
still researching on this.
.....
the couple then moved to Cornwall where Peter-Herman worked at the Howard Smith paper mill.
Peter-Herman married twice and started a second family in Cornwall after he married Elisabeth Lagroix.
my family line stems from the first union of Peter-Herman and Lovina Laclair.
strangely, our lineage know very little of the Peter-Herman / Lagroix family.
as a result, i know practically nothing of Laclairs, Lagroix, and Peter-Herman Villeneuve himself.
the second marriage with the Lagroix-side started a familly where any keepsake or old pictures would have been kept after the passing of Peter-Herman.
all this to say i have little info on this group and left looking for clues.
at any rate, if we are to follow a tradition of name-passing at baptismal, Peter-Herman Villeneuve could possibly have been the god-father to your Peter,
but it's only speculation and possibly a clue,
please keep in touch,
Marc Joseph Marion
