Le Brun and Barry, Baltimore, MD
This is actually updating my original post of May 26, 2004 in the France Genealogy Forum –
Earlier this summer my husband and I made it to the New Cathedral Cemetery (formerly Bonnie Brae) in Baltimore, Md.We really hit the jackpot for info -- there are quite a few of the Barry family buried there in a couple of sections. There are also LeBrun family members buried there in another section owned by the Prevost family.
Of the lot with seven Prevost/LeBrun burials, only two gravestones still exist, for Nadine Prevost (by the birth date listed, I believe Alphonse’s daughter, not his sister Nadine) and for Alphonse LeBrun –
“Nadine A. Prevost, Nee Petit Le Brun, Born April 20, 1858, Died July 5, 1925”
The other stone was missing the top name portion, but the date concurs with other death info I have for it to be for Alphonse P. LeBrun, “Died Oct. 25, 1892, Aged 64 yrs”
Alphonse’s other sister, Constance Prevost, is also listed as buried there, along with her husband, Francis A. Prevost (no stones for them).
In the Barry sections, Samuel H. Barry, Jr. and Blanch M. LeBrun are among those buried there.Their daughter, Blanche O. Barnitz and her husband Frank H. are buried there, too (apparently Barnitz owned the lot).
I also found stones for Samuel H’s parents, Captain Samuel H. Barry and Rachel A. nee Waidner; ALSO stones for this Samuel’s parents, Matilda, wife of James C. Barry of Buttevant (there may be a separate stone for him, but can’t read the name, dates seem to work out). There’s also a bunch of siblings, children from the various generations.
Here are the tombstone transcriptions I took at New Cathedral Cemetery, Baltimore, MD:
