My great-grandmother who was from Fih el-Koura apparently had a tattoo on the back of her left hand and another one on the arm. One of my aunts says the one on the back of her hand represented a church (she was greek orthodox). We don't know what was on her arm but it may have been her date of birth (according to my late father). Another speculation is that it gave details about the loan she had to take out to travel. I have been trying to find her obituary to see if there's anything about these tattoos in there.
