for the past number of years I have collected some information on my wife's family history and since we are going to Lebanon this fall I have renewed efforts. Her maternal grandfather was Tomas (Tannous) Zivara who was born in Hasroun. He and family (my wife's grandmother was three) left about 1880 (??) bound for New Orleans but the ship was not allowed to dock because yelloe fever had broken out aboard. They were diverted to Guatemala where wife's grandmother lived until she married and came to U.S. Her parents, sisters, one brother remained in Guatemala until they died. My wife's mother, her sister and our daughter are all named AMELIA (and it's thought the name came from my wife's paternal grandfather's mother JAMILIE who was born in Bcherre and died in Austin, TX about 1950(??). I have these dates recorded but they are not available at the moment. Please reply. Would love to hear from you and exchange what other information either of us has.
