I was interested in your letter because I sent for Ayoub ANDARY'S death certificate and received information about his parents. I knew that his father's name was Moses ANDARY and that his mother's name was Sarah from information I got from his marriage record. He married Elizabeth Joseph.
The death certificate listed his mother as Lura???? Sasam????. It said also that he was born in Abdom??????. When I read your letter, and saw the area where your mother's family was from it made me wonder if the person taking the information about Ayoub's death wrote down what he heard and not how the words were actually spelled. Could "Lura" actually be "Sarah" and "Sasam" really be "Karam". I have asked people about the Sasam and it seems no one has heard of this name being a surname. Then again, could "Abdom" really be "Abdeen". Do you know where to find Abdeen on a map? I have tried looking on the net and have not had any luck so far.
I am hoping that you might be able to help me with this little mystery with the names. The Death Certificate I received was handwritten also and sometimes the letters are hard to figure out. Ayoub ANDARY died in Detroit, MI. on Jan. 28, 1924. He did have a brother that I know of whose name was Anthony. Ayoub's death certificate info was provided by Elsie ANDARY. I am not sure who Elsie was or what connection she had to Ayoub.
Any help or info from you or anyone else would be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance.
