The name of my grandfather was Siadi. It's on his intent for naturalization papers. I don't have anything written in Arabic. His bible, that he brought over here, when he came, was written in arabic, but it was stolen about a year after he died, when kids broke into the house, and ransacked everything. There might have been some info written in it, but I'll never know. Gabriel's brother's last name was also Siadi, when he came to the states.Something was said, at one point in time, that the tradition is to take the father's given name as a last name. Have you ever heard of that? Their father's name was said to have been something like Shaheen-I'm not sure of the spelling. My mother said she thought it had an "i"in it. Gabriel died when I was 6yo, so I was too young to be aware of these things, or to ask questions about his history. I do know his father was a priest, and plantation owner. I can't remember all the things that were grown on the property. I have it written down. I do remember tobacco for their own use and mulbury trees for silk worms. Would there be any place over there, that would have birth records for 1889, even though Beruit is now part of Lebanon? I want to thank you for taking the time to answer my inquiry. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
