Amanda Ingersoll and Absalom Fox 1823 Ohio
From the Portrait and Biographical Album of Ionia and Montcalm Co., MI., pg 590-591 it states:
Absalom Fox married an Amanda Ingersoll who was born in the Empire State, and daughter of Ralph Ingersoll. Ralph was an early settler of Dundee, MI, which he also died (Monroe Co., MI). It also states Amanda died Clinon Co., MI.
Amanda Ingersoll born 14th Oct 1800, Dryden, Tompkins Co., NY., died 6th Feb. 1874 Clinon Co., MI. She died under the name of Scofield. Absalom Fox was born near Lebanon. His father born in the Old Dominion.
I found a marriage record for Absalom and Amanda dated 5th March 1823. Place Lebanon, Warren Co., Ohio. Would like more information on their births, residance, etc. If so Amanda is 23 years old. Absalom and Amanda had three children.
It also states Amanda lived in Reading, NY, Kirtland, Ohio, and Huron Co., Ohio from 1838 to 1858. If this is my Amanda she and her son William are living in Michigan in 1860. Her mother Nancy (Scofield) Ingersoll died in Huron Co., Ohio.
There are nine years between this marriage and the birth of my ggggrandfather William Nelson Scofield. If this is the right family, Amanda had to be remarried by 1832. Our family bible says she married an Anniar/Annias Scofield. Not sur of the spelling.
Any information of these people would be greatly appricated.
Thanks, Karen
