Thomas Matthews (Matta)/ Margaret Farah - late 1800s,

Hello,
I am currently researching my family history, and part of it has led me to the Lebanese consulates in Marseilles, France and Beirut. Specifically, I'm wondering if those archives are kept anywhere. I've contacted both of them but haven't heard back from them yet.

The people I am looking for are my great grandparents, and their details are sketchy at the moment.

Names:

Anthony or Thomas Matthews, or possibly Tomas Matta (could go by the Lebanese name of Matta). Also, Margaret Farah (or Farrah), born 1868, died 1938 in Chicago, IL

Occupation: he worked as an ambassador in Beirut and Marseilles, traveled between Beirut and Marseilles, France. Worked in the consulate in both Marseilles and Beirut. The time period when he worked would have been probably around the late 1880s to the early 1900s. I wonder where Lebanese consulate records are kept from this period (I contacted them, but no response as of yet)

Immigration: Supposedly emigrated to Montreal, Quebec. Other movements allegedly have him in the United States, probably New York State, in the late 1890s through early 1900s.

Born: in Beirut, Lebanon, or nearby there, probably in the 1860s, maybe a bit earlier or a bit later. He may have been born in Marseilles, France. She was listed as born in Marseilles, France

Died: he allegedly in 1904, in Montreal, Quebec.
Marriage: He married Margaret Farah (or Farrah) in or around 1888. Margaret Farah was born in Marseilles, France and died in 1938 in Chicago, IL.

Thank you for any help you can give me. Iím looking for any record or verification of the existence of them or any other mention of them in any record.

Much appreciated to anyone who may offer any details,
Sincerely,
John Cherney
