Hello Michael
Iam from Jdeidet Marjoyoun but live in Canada,I know a family Barakat,the reason it is pronounced either way, is because we pronounce differently than when we write,both ways is correct,so (Barakat)is the same like (Barakeit)and the word means (Blessings)should you ask I would be able to forward you some information about the family,I even knoe some Barakats from my town,by the way your greatgrandmother's name means (a weight used to be put on a scale to weigh different items)a very very old name not used anymore.and Yr greatgrandfather's name (Faleh) means (successful)and if it was Fallah it would mean a farmer.
