Iam from Jdeidet Marjoyoun,I live in Canada,we have the family Barakat and I know some of them,I can get you some information about them,I'm also going to ask about your grandparents and will forward you the information.
the reason that the name is written differently is only because of the vowel pronounciation between the written classical Arabic and the spoken,so when we write your family name we write and read it as Barakat,but when we say it we say (Barakeit)and the name barakat or barakeit means (Blessings.)
