Hello Benjamin

"Maroon" is a Lebanese name bit I believe it is more commonly spelt "Maroun"
If you get no help via this site try www.leb.org and type in "Maroun" in the search option. I tried 'Maroon" but it gave me all the "Maroun's"
There are sites also which give immigration records of lebanese migrating to all parts of the world. Yoy may find your great grandfather on one of these lists.
Also, Lebanon was under the control of the Ottoman empire from early 1600's to around 1918. Most lebanese born prior to 1918 would have their birth records showing "Syria" as the place of birth, even though they were born in a village in Lebanon.
I have been trying to find my ancestors in lebanon pre 1900 for the past two years. It is a slow process.
I hope this is of some help.

Bruce Roberts
