Many regions of the Arab Middle East were under Turkish rule. Your ancestors may have had a Turkish passport. The Arabs that live in Latin America are often referred to as "turcos." This surely came about because the first Lebanese and Palestinians that emigrated to Latin America had Turkish passports.
