Not all the branches are Maronites, the main branch "Douaihy" is Maronite, but in Sadad the branches are Syriacs, and they are Greek catholic, maronite or Greek Orthodox in Aleppo.
Between Sadad and Hamah in the Syrian Badiah, there is a Muslim nomad clan called "Saluba" , they have their name because it is said that they are the rest of the Crusaders who were here after the Crusdes ( so saluba comes from Salib in arabic, some of them had a red cross as their tribal sign till recently), they are generally browny, but you can notice some blue eyes among them! one may assume that some of the Crusaders took refuge in Sadad ( At that time Syriacs were in complete accordance with Latins), and some others were obliged to embrace Islam.
