Hi Jennifer!
My great grandfather Tanos or Tanios Asmar and his wife Mary Helou immigrated to the US from Jezzine. around 1905 - 1910. They were in Mexico for a time, but we are not sure if they went to NY first or Mexico. They then changed their last name to Prieto to not be ostracized. With that we lost our Lebanese heritage.

I know that my great grandfather and great grandmother were both from Jezzine Lebanon. We know nothing of the Helou family and a little of the Asmar. Have you found out anything more?

thank you for your time,
Candice Goshgarian
