Great to hear from you. My wife's grandfather was Kalal Wassaf/Wasaff who emigrated from Lebanon around 1890(?). Family tradition says that he made a stop en route in the West Indies to visit a (twin?) sister who was living there. Guadeloupe was not the island that was mentioned and I cannot think right this minute which one it was, but the same oral tradition also mentions that it was Suriname where he stopped. He later went to St. Louis, Mo, from there to Oklahoma and finally to Dallas, Texas, where he died and is buried. He did have one son who was a lawyer in El Paso. TX. Please answer direct at EJS3696@aol.com and I hope you can locate your family history. I would love to explore further to see if there is a connection. By the way Kalal was from the village of Bazaoun in Lebanon (near Hasroun and Bcherre).
