My husbands family originated from Hamana, Lebanon. Grandfather Solly "Kaleel" We are sure this name was changed at Ellis Island. We think the orginal name may have been Aboud but don't know. Solly's brother was given the surname Phillips--go figure. The "Kaleels" settled in Goldboro, North Carolina. My husbands father was the last of nine, the first 7 born in Labanon. I don't know if this helps. I've just begun to research my husbands family. Mine is English and much better documented. I don't know if this helps at all.
