Hi Jack every I'm more surprise when you write to me ,because the information it's logical and has credibility. about the name"ANTONIO" you say is Tannous or Tanios I think is an arabic way because is a very Romanic or Latin name therefore there is a Romanic influence in many families in Syria and Lebanon or isn't necessary?
I agree with you about Syrian and Lebanese roots they are not 100% arabic or semitic, They are semtics for phoencian, aramaic, but the greek influence in most cases for macedonian empire, and after for Romanics, in my opinion I think the families which are cristians have greek and romanicassendants, in other cases I note many arabs with Hebrews name it can be for tradition parents to children problay the ancestors are originated from ISRAEL KINGDOM OR ISRAEL HOME I Think you Know the Asyrinas dominated and expelled Them, and the muslims families are many influence from the Arabian peninsulawell it's just an opinion Iwould like to know your concept.
ok and now about correct spelling well I say names like HAFAT DEVIAN in the sounds for A is like A in father, for I is like cadillac and E is like E MEDITERRANEAN, SUSA is like you said , other names of the family like ofelia and catalina , ofelia is common in spanishand in don't find a translation in english probably in arabic has translation, my grand mother name was OBEIDA I think is a female version for arabic name OBEID ,I have a sister named OBEIDAsomebody Arab says her it meansradiant light , shiny or shining and for CATALINAI said is KATHERINE. sorry for for the way useing explaining to you.
Idon't have Damascus maps is no easy to get it in my country, there is not relation or consular mission here
I will try to get more information and I'll tell you.
