Thank you so much for responding. My grandparents, Hanna Hamam and Faridi Moubayed departed Lebanon in approximately October, 1908 and spent 18 months in
Brazil. They departed for the United States in March, 1910 and arrived in New York
April of 1910. We believe they spent time in Danbury, CT before arriving in Kansas City, MO. First documentation in KC is 1914. My grandfather according to his Declaration of Intent was born in Acka, Syria and my Grandmother in Beirut. My cousin and I have located considerable information regarding my Grandmother's family in Ct and Salt Lake City, Utah, but locating information on Hamam surname is extremely difficult. We have located Hamam's in New York with the original family arriving in 1906 from Beirut and
Jouret El Ballout. Also a family in Kentucky with the original family from Beirut and
Marjayoun. Another family in Tennesee with roots in Beirut and Marjayoun.
We have written over 200 letters to churches, government officials and individuals in Lebanon and thus far have no official records. Al, anything at all you are willing to share
would be wonderful. We know of a teacher in Amman, Jordan, now deceased who had the HAMAM family tree framed on his wall for the past six generations. It was left to a family member and we as of yet have been unable to locate this individual.
Al, anything you are willing to share would be wonderful! Those US records with the
alternate spellings would be an excellent source. We have learned that the HAMAM
surname was formed from the Sayegh tribe. What are your family Lebanese names?
Would you be willing to share your Grandfather's naturalization records? Anything you
have regarding the HAMAM surname that you would share would be most helpful!
