I WOULD LIKE TO TRACE MY FAMILY ROOTS FROM BEIRUT
Posted by: Julia Mallen Date: January 09, 2002 at 20:37:33
  of 3600

My grandfather was Basil Kherbawi from Beirut.
He came to America with his wife and children in the early
1900's.
He was a Principal who went on to become, an Arch Bishop in a Greek Orthodox Brooklyn Diocese.
He spoke seven languages, and wrote a book called "THE OLD WORLD IN THE NEW COUNTRY"
Then translated it into Arabic for his people.
My grandmother's name was Zakia Fattel.
They had ten children all born in Beirut except for my mother the youngest of ten born in Brooklyn, NY March.3,1923.
My mom said, her mom Zakia, had a brother named
Levon Fattel who lived in Owosso Michigan.
My Mother's name is Julia Zakia Kherbawi.
My Name is Julia Mallen.

Does anyone have any suggestions how i can trace any living realitives, that i may have here in America or in Beirut.
I think with all that has happened the past few months it really has me searching for my roots, as well as true understanding of all the pain and confusion in our poor hurting world.>>>>>
Julie~
