Re: Ellis -- Shehwen -- Wilkes-Barre, PA

The Ellis (Shehwen) Family is my wife's family. Her grandfather Geoge Leo Shehwen was born in Hardine, Lebanon in 1870. He came to America around 1900 and changed his name to Ellis, because it sounded more American. His father's name was Ellis Shehwen. George married Julia Deeb, also an immigrant from Hardine, Lebanon, soon after he arrived here. He had known her back in Hardine. George had some Shehwen cousins, who also came over about the same time, who kept the name Shehwen. We're also trying to locate descendants of this branch. George's wife Julia Deeb (Ellis) had a sister named Josephine who married a man named Joseph Moses. Are you related to this Moses branch?
Mary M. and Leo G. who were also listed are older siblings of my father in-law, Paul George Ellis. The Peter Ellis family listed is a different Ellis family - not connected.
I hope this helps some.

Brent Burnham
