George,

I am originally from Venezuela (South America) and there is a building in Caracas that bears the name "Karam" (Edificio Karam). I also lived in Los Teques (near Caracas) and there was a family Karam I knew (in fact, I've been looking for info on them just to get re-acquainted but I haven't found anything yet - that's how I got here :) )
