I am a descendent of the Betros family which came from the town of Maaser El Chouf Lebanon in the early 1900's. The family came to Housatonic, Massachusetts and later opened a grocery store in nearby Gt. Barrington, Massachusetts around 1910. The family story, Betros Mkt. closed its doors only this past year, 2001. My uncle, George Betros still lives in the house that is attached to the store with his wife. My mother, Alice Betros Massery along with her 4 siblings were all born in that same house/store. The Betros family is highly respected in the community of Gt. Barrington and Housatonic for their hospitality and their delicious Lebanese food. George's wife Samia is also from Lebanon, she was brought to the home for George to inspect as a potential bride, he clearly approved and they have 3 children and 3.5 grandchildren.
