HAIK and HAYEK are, as I understand it, simply varied spellings of the same name and does not necessarily imply a name change after immigration. More likely as HAIK/HAYEK's immigrated at different times, each transcribed the Arabic name into English (or Spanish/Portugese/French, depending on to where they immegrated) with different spellings.

Additionally, there are some HAIKs (friends of my grandmother) in Golden Valley (a suburb of Minneapolis), MN, including some born in Lebenon.

Also check out the Mexican actress Selma HAYEK, whose father is a Lebanese immigrant to Mexico.
