Dear Susan,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you
but I have been away.

My advice is to post a direct inquiry on the
genealogy forum. You may find a person who
knows something about your last name.

All I can tell you is that the town of
Mechgara is about 30mi. SSE of Beirut(almost due south).

I collect old envelopes mailed from Lebanon
before 1920 and it seems that quite a few people left Mechgara in the 1880's and 1890's
to go to the U.S., Canada and even Latin
places like Cuba.

If you ever come across anyone who has saved
old letters in the original envelopes, please
let me know. I would like to get copies.

Regards...Bob Stuchell
