From the 1850 census , Pickens District, there is Nimrod 44, Ruth 38 with Francis 16, William 5, Ruth 1mo, and Ala Boles, age 70. Nimrod is the son of Benjamin and Nancy Smithson/Smitherson Leathers, the grandson of Samuel Leathers and the grandson of Margaret Clore and John Paul Leathers and Germanna descendant. What IS the correct spelling of the Smithson/Smitherson name? I know nothing about the family but have wondered for a long time which is correct. Notify Administrator about this message?
