You sent me a second copy of your CD, but you used my Screen name--Pat Robert, and sent it to my home address. Is there a reason for that? Thank you, though, for the letter about the copyright. I have learned that no one is able to copyright facts--so basically all the fees you sent to the U.S. Copyright office are wasted money.
There is another error on your file. You have my father's photo with the caption "Edward LEASURE"--his name was Edward SMITH.
Please, Gloria, STOP reproducing your CD. Every time I open it, I found many more errors. I'm concerned that people will take the information on your CD as "gospel" and it will NEVER be corrected, but show up on a web site and people will use it year after year after year.
As I've said before, there are so many errors in your CD. Both Bob Lasher and I have requested that you STOP making copies of your file. At least have the courtesy to consider WHY we are asking this of you.
Also, according to "Carmack's Guide to Copyright and Contracts" page 36, copyrighting your CD doesn't stop anyone from sharing the information. The book states: "No one owns the information (facts) on an ancestor, since facts aren't protected by copyright...Sending those facts from a database or GEDCOM to another researcher is probably OK, too, as "fair use" as long as you aren't distributing them to everyone and anyone or CHARGING A FEE." So, we are free to share the information with whomever we wish, but you could be doing something wrong by "charging a fee" for others to receive information that WE have gathered.
