Hi Glynda, I've been offline a bit, ha ha. As far as I know (so far) my James were in NC; not sure where before that. Interestingly, when I was at Clayton Lib. in Houston I noted on one of the "companies" in Burke NC there were 3 families: James, Redmon & Grider, spelled some other way. Another OF COURSE is that I don't know if the Redmon/Redman in THOMAS REDMAN JAMES connects him to a Redmon family or whether he was named for a friend or who or what. ...With all the help perhaps I am getting "warm."
I read that many Burke county, NC records were destroyed during the Civil War by the North.
