"Mother Cumberland-A Harvest of Memories: Reunion 2003"
Date: July 18, 19, 20, 2003
For: Anyone with an ancestor of any surname who lived in Cumberland County during the 1700's. All welcome! This includes any and all counties who trace their parentage to Cumberland County.
Friday July 18, 2003: Genealogy seminar with speakers from the PA State Archives, PA State Gen. Soc., and various other societies and libraries.
Dinner and historical program.
Saturday July 19, 2003:
Frontier Settlement which includes Revolutionary War Military Encampment; Ranger Encampment ( French & Indian Wars), plus colonial skills such as blacksmithing, weaving & spinning, candle & soapmaking, map making, woodworking, basketweaving, cooking and medical skills of the period. All activities are hand's-on and will be available all day on Saturday. We will learn everything about the lives and times of our 1700's Pennsylvania ancestors.
Dinner program and colonial campfire program.
Fife & drum and bagpipers will join with us as well as several colonial "friends".
Sunday July 20, 2003: local church services and memorial services where your ancestors are buried.
Lots of genealogy & history, surname exchange and lots of activities for the children including covered wagon rides, pony rides, Revolutionary Crafts and skills, etc.
DNA testing available on Saturday for those age 18 and older.
