Dona,
That's really fascinating because I've not heard of anyone going down to GA from this line.
I am from the John, Thomas, William and (occasionally Henry) Lazear line that lived first in MD. Later about 1784, they were found in Bedford County, PA.
My ancestor was Jonathan Laizure (ca 1775-1819) who lived there in Bedford County in Beans Cove--which is right on the border of MD.
The name was spelled many ways, including things like Lazier, Lezeare, Leazure. Eventually, in Ohio, my family went to the Laizure spelling.
Jonathan left for Ohio ca 1816-1818. When did your ancestor leave for GA?
For your reference to your family being German, are you using the naturalization of Joseph Lazear in 1721? Or are you looking at another reference?
Sorry, to ask so many questions, but this is a new line to me. I have been working on tracing Jonathan back for 7 years. I have no concrete evidence for his father, but he began paying taxes in Bedford County in 1796 right alongside all the Johns, Williams and Thomases that were there.
