I am looking for information about William H. Leas, who lived in Polk Co., IA. Trying to figure out what relationship he had to Melissa Wilson Garver Wells. Melissa signed guardianship of her three minor Garver children over to William H. Leas, in 1871. I figured he must have been related somehow. Melissa's family moved from Logan Co.,OH, to Elkhart,IN, circa 1832, where she married David Garver, son of John Garver and Catherine Weaver. David died in 1867, leaving Melissa with three minor children. She remarried Isaiah Wells, but gave legal guardianship for her Garver children to Mr. Leas? Does anyone know about this?
