In response to your search for the nail the following came from the book, The Learned Family, 2nd 1898 Ed., pg 157, #265 Joseph Dana Learned graduated at Middlebury College 1805, read law in Massachusetts 1810, commenced practice in Portland, ME in 1812, went into the military and was made Col. of the 34th Reg. US Vols., and was in command at Ft. Scammell, Portland, ME in War of 1812.
