Hi Pam-- I found your name on Genforum.I am Philip Learn Knoll--a 4th ggrandson of John Learn who was massacred 3 July 1781 at Tannersville, Northampton, PA.His son, Peter Learn born 1767 is my 3rd ggrandfather. I don't have anything but b-dates on the 3 sisters Mary, Rachel and Sarah. I am first generation American. My Learns were in Welland County over 200 years. My cousin, Florence Neff Young of Port Colborne, Welland County (deceased) was a professional genealogist.I corresponded with her over 30 years and visted her in 1970. She said there is a marr rec of Cadarina Learn and Jacob Zavitz in the St.Anglican church--Waterloo Parish--Fort Erie, Welland, Ontario. She also said they were married before they came to Canada--probably 1787/1788.Go figure. She also stated that the father Jacob Zavitz and his 2 brothers Christian and Henry came to Canada in 1788.Jacob lived in Bertie Twp. or Humberstone and his 2 brothers lived in Wainfleet Twp.Of course Welland County, Ontario, Canada was called Lincoln County, Upper Canada in those times.Because Jacob married Cadarina Learn--you could say the Learns and the Zavitz' came together. She said that Zavitz' lived in northern section of Bertie Twp. near the Peter Learn'.In John Learn Sr.'s will of 1777 in Tannersville it shows Jacob Zavitz as one of the witnesses----so the families were very close. If you don't have a copy of the will I can scan one for you and send it e-mail.I hope this is helpful. A Learn [email protected]
