Alan

I've not got that far back on the Lear(h)'s side. Only to my great great grandfather Lear being the son of a woman with the maiden name Royle. His name was Joseph Lear (1851) and he had a sister Harriet(1854). Their father was John Lear, born in Weaverahm Cheshire which is very close to Stockport / Edgeley. He married Anne Royle.

His father was Thomas Lear (1791) of Great Budworth, Cheshire - again very close to the area you are looking at, so they could be related.

Not sure if any of this will be useful to you.

Marie
