http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Acres/7647/ldyjasper.htm Well, this is an interesting tidbit to brainstorm and I haven't followed through on all of my thoughts. In the Inquisition document regarding William Leake, Jr, murdered in 1812, in Laurens County, South Carolina, there is reference to a (SAMUEL?) YANCEY but in the Yancey Genealogy database online, there is not a Samuel listed that I could find for that time period but there IS a SANFORD Yancey who had been elusive to family and researchers...and also states on a census record that he was born in Georgia which is supposed to be erroneous info. Check out the Hall/Yancey connections too. John Hall was the keeper of the goal (jail)...? Lewis D. Yancey (Sr.) moved to Georgia in 1809 so the Lewis D. Yancey, accomplice to the murder of William Leake Jr., must have been his son, Lewis D. Jr., but whose name had been Lewis D. Hall later changed to Yancey. The murder also took place between 'William Jr.'s father's house' and the (Lewis?) Yancey's house. William Jr.'s father is not named. (Lewis) has been inserted which is only an implication, so I wonder just whose house it was and how old Lewis D. Yancey (Jr.) and someone supposedly named 'Samuel' Yancey were, since Lewis D. Yancey Sr. had already moved to Georgia... Looking for a motive as well--. Show me what I'm missing. Does anyone have any information or news article on the outcome of a trial or anything?
