---Walter Leake Brockman was my g.g.grandfather. I have information on him from the family Bible, obits, documents, photos, letters, etc. Perhaps this will help someone out there and can correct any misinformation you may have on any of the following people.
---Walter was born on 10-8-1821 near Maysville, KY to Katherine/Kitty Leake & Tandy Collins Brockman. Kitty was the daughter of Walter Leake & Susanna Jones Leake; and Tandy was the son of Samuel & Anestar Simms Brockman. Kitty & Tandy were listed as lving in Linn County, IA in 1850 & again in 1860.
---Walter married a widow, Helen Crawford Conner Worrall (b. 10-12-1819 in Scotland to David & Margaret Crawford), on 1-3-1850 in Cedar Rapids, IA. She brought him 2 young sons from her previous marriages. They owned farms in the area and a nursery, W.L. Brockman & Co. Helen died on 4-11-1890 & is buried in Sac City, IA. Walter died on 3-5-1906 in Riverside, CA and was also buried in Sac City, IA.
---Walter & Helen had 7 children: Eli Brockman (twin) b. on 9-28-1850 in Dairy Dale, IA - was still living in 1911 in Los Angeles, CA; Margaret Ann Brockman Rutan (twin) b. on 9-28-1850 in Dairy Dale, IA - still living in 1925 in Riverside, CA; Dr. David Crawford Brockman b. 9-15-1853 in Cedar Rapids, IA - d. 8-21-1925 in Ottumwa, IA; Sarepta Ellen Brockman Barnes b. on 7-23-1855 in Dairy Dale, IA - still living in 1911 in LeMars, IA; Walter Leake Brockman Jr. b. ?-28-1857 in Parkers Grove, IA - still living in 1925 in San Francisco, CA; Catherine/Cassie Brockman Mason (twin) b. 8-23-1859 - still living in 1911 in San Francisco, CA; and John Brockman b. 8-23-1859 in Parkers Grove, IA - d. 2-19-1863 of measles. I don't know where John was buried, perhaps in the family farm plot in Cedar Rapids? Any more info on these siblings would be appreciated.
---Dr. David Crawford Brockman was my g.grandfather. He attended Cornell University and the Medical Dept. of Iowa St., graduating on 3-8-1878. Dr. David was married to Sara Augusta Mallory (b. 5-15-1855 in Aurora, IL) on 11-8-1879 in Marshalltown, IA. Sara Augusta Brockman died on 7-19-1908. Dr. David was remarried to Lucy Nottingham Warden on 2-2-1910 in Ottumwa, IA. Dr. David died on 8-21-1925; then Lucy Brockman died on 4-10-1959. All 3 of them are buried in Ottumwa, IA.
---Dr. David & Sara Augusta had 5 children: Helen Augusta Brockman b. 2-26-1883 in Marengo, IA - d. 10-10-1964; Charles Walter Brockman b. 9-24-1887 in Marengo, IA - d. 10-27-1953; Louise M. Brockman b. 8-10-1889 in Marengo, IA - d. 9-17-1957; Hilda Brockman b. 10-23-1892 in Ottumwa, IA - d. 12-31-1932; and Ruth Brockman b. 8-11-1897 in Ottumwa, IA - d. 11-24-1937. All of these siblings are buried in Ottumwa, IA.
---Charles Walter Brockman was my grandfather. He married Nora Weems (b. 2-21-1895 in Abilene, KS) on 1-31-1920 in Ottumwa, IA. Charles attended Parsons College and served in WWI. He was the city building inspector for many years in Ottumwa. Nora died on 2-12-1944 and Charles died on 10-27-1953; both are buried in Ottumwa, IA.
---Charles & Nora had 2 children: John David Brockman b. 2-3-1921 in Ottumwa, IA - d. 2-5-1999 in Arcadia, CA; and Jean Marie Brockman Matheus b. 8-11-1923 in Ottumwa, IA - d. 9-5-1959.
---John David Brockman was my father. He married Mary Rosalie Brockman (b. 2-6-1918 in Dennison, TX) on 1-2-1943 in Ottumwa, IA; they were divorced c. 1980. Mary died on 1-4-1993 and is buried in Mesa, AZ. John died on 2-5-1999 and is buried in Riverside, CA.
