Hi Janelle, I'm still working on this family when I can. Yes, I'm wanting to fill in all of the branches and blanks, so not giving it up any time soon. Thank you for helping me. Here's what I have on these men. Clarence Hardy, Robert L. and Thomas Wesley were the children of William Hardy and Willie Jones Leake, all were born in Howard Co., AR. Robert L. was my father and he died in 1989. Thomas who died in Texarkana was his brother. Clarence is buried in the Talco cemetery, Titus County, Robert L. is buried in Bethel cem in Franklin Co., TX, and Thomas Wesley is buried in the Nevill's Chapel Cem., Titus County. You can find two of the cemetery lists online at Titus County, Texas GenWeb website. -- William Hardy is indexed on the 1900 Census in Howard County, Arkansas as 'Wm T. Leck'. He is listed with his parents. This is the only document that I have found so far that lists both William Hardy and Parents together. His father is indexed as Thos Leck and mother, Sinnie B. Leck, (Thomas Sims Leake and Susan Bradley Leake) He was born in 1881 right after the 1880 Census and was married in 1902, so the 1900 census is the only legal document connecting him to parents that I've found so far. ----- SOURCE DOCUMENT: 1910 Census, Arkansas, Sevier County,, Paraclifta Twp. Dist 172---Lockesburg Road House 78 Fam 78 JONES, John (Wesley) M W 55 Married 1X for 33 yrs Arkansas Arkansas Arkansas M.A. wife (Maryanne Melviney Chandler) F W 53 Married 1 X for 33 yrs. Jim (James?) son M W 17 single Arkansas Arkansas Arkansas Henry son M W 19 Single Arkansas Arkansas Arkansas Len son M W 15 Single Arkansas Arkansas Arkansas (Len married Mary Bell Tratt) In the same household is: LEEK, Bill (William Hardy Leake) son-in-law M W age 30 Widow AR AR AR farm laborer with two of his three babies: (His parents were NOT born in AR) 1 Wesley grandson of head, John Wesley Jones, M W age 3 (This is Thomas Wesley Leake) my uncle. 2 Lowell (looks like 'Lowe' on the census--M W age 1 (This is Robert Lowell Leake) my father. The oldest son, Clarence Hardy Leake is not listed. He may have been with some other relatives on the Jones side or just been missed by the enumerater. Willie Lee Jones Leek (Leake), wife and mother, died Jan. 1910 and the Census was enumerated April 22 and 23, 1910. SPECULATION: This information was probably provided to the enumerator by Maryanne, William Hardy's mother-in-law. William Hardy would've known that his father was born in Laurens County, South Carolina and mother born in Tennessee, and how to spell his name correctly. On this census, it lists all were b. in Arkansas which is incorrect.) SOURCE DOCUMENT: Draft Registration Card: Serial Number: 78 Order number 1967 WILLIAM H. LEAKE Mineral Springs, Howard County Arkansas b. 8 APRIL, 1881 Age in years: 37 White Present Occupation: Farmer Nearest relative: CARRIE LEAKE Mineral Springs. (Carrie Winchester Leake, second wife) (daughter of Joseph Winchester) On back of card: Description of Registrant Height: Medium Build: Slender Color of Eyes: Grey Color of Hair: Light Date of registration: 12 September 1918 ------------ William H. died and is buried in Bryan Co., OK Age at death: 40 years, 9 months, 3 days I've never tried to order a death cert but here's the info I found. (To order death certificate) BR - Bryan County Court Clerk 402 E. Evergreen Durant, Oklahoma 74701 580-924-1446 $2.00 copy fee when info is known call for search fee ---- I don't know who the Thomas is who died in Lincoln Co., OR. ---- William H. and Carrie had two children together; Barbara 05 Dec 1914, and James Floyd 20 Feb 1919. Barbara married Len Miles Tabor. She died 20 Nov 1977 in Mercede, CA. Len died April 1982 in Mercede, CA I'm still hoping to hear something from James Floyd Leake's descendants who may still live in Oregon. I've not been able to contact them so, hopefully, someday they will find this genealogy board--and us. Social Security Death Index Record Name: James Leake SSN: (removed) Last Residence: 97015 Clackamas, Clackamas, Oregon, Born: 20 Feb 1919 (in Howard Co., AR) Last Benefit: 97015 Clackamas, Clackamas, Oregon, Died: Aug 1978 (14 Aug 1978) State (Year) SSN issued: New Mexico (Before 1951 ) --- MISS Carrie Winchester and William Hardy aka: Bill Leek, Billy Leake, W. H. Leake (his name has been spelled and misspelled several different ways--one way to tell is to look at his marriage certificates!!), were both living at Buck Range, Howard County, Arkansas when they were married. They were married by a Justice of the Peace, J C Walden. They got their license on 26 Nov and were married 27 Nov 1913. ------------- Mrs. Carrie Leak m. 30 October, 1924 to W.D. Logan, according to Bryan County, Okla. marriage listing I don't know a thing about him and haven't found anything in searches but at some point they, or maybe just Carrie and children, moved to California. Carrie died Nov 1966 in Sacramento Co., CA. Would like to know where she and Mr. Logan are buried also. -- Another note is that the SSDI states Camella was born July, 1882 and the 1900 census says Aug, 1882. Do you have a photo of her headstone? Maybe there's another typographical error somewhere. -- Another note also is that I've found Clarence H. and Thomas Wesley on the 1930 Census Records but have not found Robert Lowell. As far as I know, part of Talco addresses are in Franklin County and part are in Titus County. --- I will continue to search. Thanks again for your input! Another thing I wondered is if you know when any of the decoration days for those cemeteries in Howard Co., AR--County Line, Temperanceville, Buck Range, Mineral Springs and Mount Pleasant Cem. Thanks, Linda Texas Which state do you live in? Notify Administrator about this message?
