Check out my response to "Leake/Around Delaware Co. Ind." posted 1/26/99.

The only thing I forgot to tell the other party was that the name was changed about 1794 when Robert Leak (1763-1833), married, Yes, to Susannah Leak (1764-1828) and moved from Virginia to Bracken Co. KY. and dropped the (e). All of their children, except Nancy moved to Montgomery and Hendricks Cos. Indiana, at about the time of their parents' death. Elisha was one of their sons. The Tree I have goes all the way back to Sir Francis Leake (1550-1611), who descended Sir John Leke who acquired the family manor at Sutton, County Derby, England, during the reign of Henry IV (1399-1413).

Hope this of help!

Earl Eckert
