Hi Marjorie. This is great. It's wonderful to hear from someone with connections or knowledge about our Leak & McCray relatives! You might be the one and only other connection to this family that my sister and I have so far discovered.

Everything we have found so far, indicates only that Charlotte was a McCray. We now have a modest or fair amount of info on our gr-grandmother Sarah "Sadie" Leak Page Saylor (Ball?)Fisher. As I had mentioned before, she is the or a daughter of James and Charlotte. I see a number of other Leak that I suspect are some of James' and Charlotte's children, in the censuses and other records of Bartholomew County and other nearby places of that time. I might even have some marriage records for James and Charlotte. But we have almost nothing on their other children or their ancestors.

James seems to have disappeared quite soon around or just after the time of Sadie's marriage to our Calvin Page. I suspect he might have dissappeared about the time of the Civil War. But I think Charlotte appears in Hendricks, Hamilton and/or Pulaski counties Indiana near Sadie and Calvin (who lived in those counties, in that order). And it appears Charlotte might have died in Starke county, IN, at a relatively old age for that time. I have what is probably an index to her death records, but have not yet sent for the records themselves.

I can get more specific on a lot of this, but it has been a while since I worked on them. I will need to refresh my memory by looking through our sizable Family Data Sheets and Timeline records for this side of the tree. My sister is finishing a thorough update to a tree and notes on all we know on this side of our family (in Family Tree Maker format). Gather up all you know, we will look forward to swapping info!
