Leaf/Löf - from Gunnarskog, Värmland, Sweden - to the US in the 1880s
I'm looking for the descendants of three brothers Löf, who were born in the county of Värmland, Sweden. They all emigrated to the US in the 1880s. I assume they translated their family name to Leaf.
The first one to move was Johan Alfred, born on Mar 3, 1859, in the parish of Gunnarskog, Värmland. He left Sweden from
Göteborg/Gothenburg on Oct 18, 1883. The final destination according to the passenger lists was New York. The name Johan could have been changed to John. Maybe he called himself John A Leaf ?
Three years later the youngest brother, Gustaf Adolf, born on Sep 9, 1871, in Gunnarskog, followed his brother to the US. His ship left Göteborg/Gothenburg on Jun 11, 1886, and he gave New York as his final destination. Since he was so young I guess he moved to live with his older brother Johan Alfred. This all together makes me believe that, at least in the beginning, they both lived near New York.
The third brother, Wilhelm, was born on Nov 18, 1863, also in Gunnarskog. He left Sweden from the same port as his brothers on Nov 1, 1886, but instead of going to New York he went to Chicago. He might have changed his name to William.
Is there anyone who knows something about any of these brothers ?
