I made a copy of some information at the Missouri State Archives, thinking it might be my family (it isn't). I'm sharing it here in hopes that it will help someone else.
"My father Elijah was born in North Carolina was the son of William Stephens. My mother was the daughter of Mark Renfro born in Virginia. Both father and mother moved to Garrard Co Kentucky in their youth where they married and when they had 3 children moved to Boone Co Missouri in fall of 1819. Father's mothers maiden name was Leachman from whence the "L" in my name comes. Mother's mother maiden name was Standifor.
I bought me a lot in Columbia Cemetery about 1860 for which I paid about $56. Spring of 1864 planted 6 Kentuck evergreens on it.
My father and mother have been members of the old Baptist church for many yrs. My father's youngest brother (Peyton) is a Baptist preacher termed a hard shell his oldest son (William) is also a Baptist preacher. Some of my mothers uncles or early relations were also Baptist preachers.
Grandfather John Leachman was born 1730 and died Nov 1800 aged 70 years. Father Wm Stephens was born 1745 and died Oct 1829 aged 84 yrs. Mother Elizabeth Stephens was born 1755 and died July 1788 aged 33 yrs. Sister Nancy was born April 1790 and died Aug 1824 aged 34 yrs. Above was written by myself at request of grandfather when dieing and was here recorded 41 yrs thereafter." (Signed) E. Stephens

At the bottom of the page, the following source and information is given:
"This Bible was found Mar. 17, 1954 by E.S. Stephens (Jr). He was born 4 Sep 1881 the son of Edwin William and Laura Moss Stephens. He was married to Mary Rollins Gray 19 April 1906. He died 17 Oct 1948. Edwin William Stephens II was born 13 Aug 1909 and died 13 Jan 1910. Edwin S. Stephens was born 27 Jan 1912 and married L. Higgs 20 Aug 1937. He died 24 Nov 1970."
More names are given, but I am preserving their privacy.
