He is listed on the 1920 Census of Xenia City, Greene County Ohio. He doesn't appear again after that. I was a little off on my previous dates, sorry about that. He had two daughters, Helen and Lucille, between 1917 and 1919. He is listed in the City of Xenia Directory as still living with Bernice in 1919. I don't have Lucille's exact death date, but she was dead by 1920 and buried in Good Hope Ohio. But the 1920 Census shows Jesse living back with his parents. By 1921 the most of the family moves to Dayton, East side near Huffman Road and Linden Ave. Before Helen died she told us she remembered going to a funeral and she was told the man in the casket was her father. She believed she was no more than 5 or 6. (that would put his death in about 1923 or so) But the Dayton Daily News published Jesse's mother's obit in 1930. In it, it lists no survivor names, but the number of kids is the same as the number of children I am aware of including Jesse. It has suggested to me that he was alive in 1930, or their is a sibling I am unaware of.
Helen was also told by her mother that Jesse had changed his name and remarried (and had another child or two). But that is just family stories, and I haven't found any proof. I have looked at the Jesse W. Leach in Warren county a couple weeks ago. Jesse was born in Warren County in 1899, but I don't think that these men are one in the same.
The last record I can locate is the 1920 census that lists him by name. So I know he was alive and well at 10 Railroad Road, Xenia Ohio on January 5, 1910 when the Census was recorded. I have traced his movments from 1899 until 1920. Beyond that I am mostly guessing. I have worked on this branch of my research since 1996, without much success. I am just hoping that if I post on enough online forums, someone may recognize his info and make a connection.
