Joshua Lazenby of MD and NC 1759-1840
Stumbled across this reference in Maryland State Archives in Annapolis while researching Lizenby. This is not my line but am passing it along in case it might be helpful to others.I have no other information on this source (noted at bottom of page) or these people.
"Lazenby, Joshua.Joshua Lazenby was born in 1759 and lived in Montgomery County, Maryland until 1785 or 1790 and then moved near Statesville, North Carolina where he died on September 2, 1840.On December 15, 1927, Mary E. Lazenby, of Washington, D.C., forwarded to the Pension Bureau the soldier's original application 'for the sake of posterity and not for the purpose of obtaining a pension.'It stated that three of the soldier's brothers served in the Revolutionary War, to wit: Alexander Lazenby, Henry Lazenby, and Elias Lazenby. It also stated they served with Daniel Lewis, the father-in-law of Joshua's oldest son (not named).Joshua filled out the application on August 22, 1832 in Iredell county, North Carolina. He never received a pension, obviously, but he and his brothers did, in fact, serve in the Montgomery County Militia (Ref:VDW-2034 and S. Eugene Clements and F. Edward Wright's "The Maryland Militia in the Revolutionary War", pages 186 and 206 (1987)".
