Thomas Lazarus appears in the 1930 census with his sister Margaret as the in-laws of Pearl Smith and his wife Elsie living in Chicago.
He appears in the 1920 and 1910 census with Edward Lazarus ca1875 and his wife Mary ca1878 again in Chicago. Both were born in Ireland. They became naturalized citizens in 1903. They immigrated in 1894 and 1893 respectively.
Edward and Mary appear in the 1900 census in Pittsburgh. He was born April 1876 and she in May 1876. He immigrated in 1892 and she in 1891. They were married 6 years.Another Edward Lazarus appears in the 1900 census also in Pittsburgh. It shows he was born May 1840 and his wife Mary, born Aug 1840. They two were born in Ireland and also immigrated in 1892. Coincidence?
Edward Thomas Lazarus, born June 9, 1875 appears in the World War I draft registrations living in Chicago.
Some of these records you can look at for free at labs.familysearch.org and Ancestry.com. For those you cannot see for free I suggest checking with your local libraries to see if they have Ancestry or Heritage Quest.
While there is an index of Chicago death records online it only gives the name and the date of death. It becomes a guessing game as to whether it is the one you are looking for. It could be a child or an adult of any age. You don't find out until you pay for it and it is sent to you.
However, you can look at the Chicago birth certificates of a number of Edward and Mary's children for free at (it lists her maiden name as Daley): http://search.labs.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html?datestamp=1195390820093#c=1462519;p=collectionDetailshttp://search.labs.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html?datestamp=1195390820093#c=1462519;p=collectionDetails
Since Edward and Mary were married ca1894 they may have been married in Pittsburgh. Check with the Allegheny County Register of Wills in Pittsburgh to see if they have the marriage record. It might have info on their parents and of course it would have Mary's maiden name.
Their naturalization papers might be at the Allegheny County Prothonotary Office (unless they had already moved by 1903). They probably have info on their arrival and possibly where in Ireland they came from.
