Don... In your research you have probably discovered that that area has been under the flags of five countries since 1900. Originally Austria-Hungary, many people also spoke Hungarian in that area. You might want to checkout the smaller towns near SZIGHET, perhaps to the south or southwest. That town, a county-seat, is on the northern border of Romania next to what is currently the Ukraine. My Dad was born and raised about 15 miles to the west and my relatives were "sprinkled" throughout northwestern Romania, southwest Ukraine and northeastern Hungary. The village name finder feature of the Jewish geneology board was extremely helpful in learning the names of a town in the different languages spoken in the area. For example, I believe Mures County, Romania may have been part of Maramores County of Austria-Hungary. Good luck... Larry
